New England
Sure, we may be a bit biased (Go Ahead Tours has an office here in Boston), but there’s no denying that New England’s fall foliage is top-notch. The fiery hues that take over the forests draw tourists to the quaint port cities and mountainous towns of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
Beijing, China
Even though the Great Wall is located just a few hours outside of bustling Beijing, when you’re standing on the ancient ramparts, you’re surrounded by expansive countryside as far as the eye can see. While visitors often overlook a sea of green, if you go to the Great Wall in October or November, you’re bound to see reds, browns, yellows and oranges lighting up the landscape.
London, England
London‘s many city parks offer the ideal place to take in the rich golds and rusty browns of autumn, especially the charming grounds of St. Jame’s Park and Hyde Park. Looking to leaf-peep outside of the big city? Other much-loved foliage spots in the U.K. include the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh, Scotland and the Westonbirt Arboretum in England’s Gloucestershire county.
Kyoto, Japan
Japan’s prime time for foliage is slightly later than the other hot spots on this list. During November and early December, the Kyoto area is awash in the vivid reds of Japanese maple trees, creating a stunning backdrop for the region’s many parks, shrines and temples.
