Jimmy on A Week in Ireland: Galway, Cork & Dublin
From the Irish people’s sparkling wit and inviting pub culture to the isle’s incredible emerald landscapes, this small country packs quite a punch. For Jimmy, Ireland's scenery took center stage when the group traveled outside the must-visit cities of Dublin and Galway and into the majestic countryside.
Blarney: Beyond the castle
“I really enjoyed Blarney, where the famous Blarney Castle is located. It barely counts as a town really, but it has everything you can ask for: a great medieval castle, stunning views of the beautiful surrounding countryside and three pubs! I especially enjoyed walking on the castle grounds and being able to stroll back to the hotel that was located just five minutes from there.”
A closer look at Glendalough
Instead of a free day in Dublin, Jimmy joined some of the travelers on the optional excursion to Glendalough in County Wicklow. Its mountainous countryside—complete with a medieval tower and 13th-century church—turned out to be one of Jimmy’s favorite settings on tour.
“The landscape around Glendalough is a beautiful summary of the various elements that make up the quintessential Irish landscape: a lake (lough), hills, a really dramatic location and interesting ancient ruins.“
Snapshot: The Cliffs of Moher
“Simply put, the Cliffs of Moher are majestic and incredibly impressive.”
