Best optional excursion: Cape Ferrat
“The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild was absolutely gorgeous. It was so cool to see how this avant-garde woman created such an immense, beautiful project, settling in the Cape Ferrat area where there was previously nothing. It was a really inspiring story—not to mention that the mansion, themed gardens and the views were incredible.”
Best architectural gem: The Sagrada Família
“What’s amazing about the Sagrada Família is how different it looks 20 years later, even though it’s still under construction. I had seen it many years ago, but I was still struck by the interior and how much progress they’ve made since I last visited. It really puts into perspective how a city can evolve over the years.”
Best place to explore: Cinque Terre
“The unique setting of the villages makes Cinque Terre a favorite of mine. The way the houses follow the geography of the hills makes it very dramatic and charming, while the isolation of the villages creates a feeling of serenity.”
