Behind our catalog cover shot
For our first catalog of 2014, the cover photo decision was much more difficult—so many amazing images were pouring in from our on-tour photographer Jimmy de Bock.
Three times a year, we pore over hundreds of images in search of the best cover photo for our catalog. Many factors go into the selection, but nothing is as important as choosing a shot that captures the true Go Ahead Tours experience. For our first catalog of 2014, the decision was much more difficult—so many amazing images were pouring in from our on-tour photographer Jimmy de Bock. Ultimately, it was the warmth and romance of “The Louvre at Night” and Jimmy’s story of capturing the moment that made up our minds.
“While in Paris, I knew I wanted to shoot the Louvre at night—the striking structure of the pyramid is such a nice contrast to the Louvre and the twinkling reflection brings a great sense of drama. The actual cover shot came as a surprise to me, though. I got off the Métro by the Louvre and was crossing the Rue de Rivoli when the perspective hit me. Standing in the arcade let me catch the pyramid and Louvre at just the right moment.”
