I just returned from an awesome trip to Egypt and the Nile. If you decide to go on the Egypt and Nile trip, I recommend that you take a roll of quarters for the bathrooms. You are not obligated to pay the attendant but if you do feel like you want to tip the attendant, quarters work well. We were giving the attendants one dollar bills and later found out that we should have been giving them a pound or two. Two Egyptian pounds is approximately $.40.
The same holds true for public restrooms in Italy. The attendant does a good job of keeping them clean. Expect to put a 50 euro coin in the basket on the way in. I recall having to use some coins in Paris too.
In Venice it could cost you up to 1.25 euros for a washroom. They are very clean though.
I'M GOING ON THE EGYPT TOUR NEXT MONTH, AND I WAS WONDERING ABOUT CLOTHING. IT SAYS NOT TO BRING SHORTS OR TANK TOPS, IT THAT REALLY TRUE? I WEAR SHORTS ALOT.
It's a fairly westernized country, but both shorts and tank tops are to be avoided. Men might get away with bermuda shorts, but not women. Dress pretty conservatively. Remember; you are in their country, not yours.
