Impromptu deodorant; plastic dinnerware
Reply

Hi,

I've been a group leader since 2000, always on the lookout for good travel tips.  I'd like to pass on two.

As is the case with most travel tips, necessity prompted this one.  I boarded the bus before a day of sightseeing and realized I forgot to use deodorant.  My hand sanitizer, tucked away in my purse, did the trick.  I was able to apply it without anyone noticing.  It was effective and dried quickly.

Another tip thing I've found to be very helpful is to save the plastic dinnerware from your airline meals, or bring your own from home.  These utensils will be especially useful for the walking tours, when you'll be eating outdoors a lot.

Barbara - thanks for the advice! Who knew hand sanitizer had more than one purpose? I second your advice about saving the utensils from the airlines. You never know when you'll want to pick up a yogurt or something while on the road. I also never travel without a swiss army knife (in my checked luggage, of course). I love an impromptu picnic and the knife is necessary for cutting up cheese and bread or fruit. The scissors are always useful too. Happy travels!
